Ann's Crochet Miniatures

I am Ann Kearney and I live in the South of England with my husband. We have 3 grown up children, 2 girls and a boy.

My Nan taught me the basics of crocheting when I was about 14 years old, it soon became a passion and I couldn’t be without something “on the go”.

I crocheted ladies garments which sold in boutiques, and without formal training, I was asked to design my own patterns. Surprisingly, I found I was able to do this.

When my 2 daughters came along, I naturally designed and crocheted many outfits for them including clothes and handbags for their Barbie, Cindy and the 1:12th scale Pippa dolls. I wish we had kept them, as they are lovely dolls and are collectable now.

About 20 years ago I made and sold full size Jumpers and the usual Doilies, Tablecloths, Hats etc and sold them at Craft Fayres. At one of the fairs a lady asked me if I made anything for Dollshouses, and introduced me to the Dollshouse world, and so crocheting in miniature began for me.

I have had my website for about 10 years now and also sell by mail order catalogue and at Autumn Miniatura. I have designed over 300 crochet patterns, which I sell on my site, together with the ready made items for babies, children, adults and the home. I also make and sell perfume pots, jewellery in miniature and little accessories for the babies and the home.

My favourite thread to use for crocheting now is Gutermann sewing thread using a size 0.40mm hook.  But generally I use the 1ply cotton, available on my website, with a 0.60mm hook

Recently I have designed patterns for larger dolls, from 4 inch to 10 inch, using 2ply cotton and 1.50mm crochet hook, also available on my website.  

I am always happy to help with advice, and for anyone who wants something special which is not listed on my website, I will happily take commissions in 1:12^th and 1:24^th scale, and of course for the larger 4-10 inch babies.
