Adelaide's Miniatures by Adelaide Cann
Adelaide Cann lives in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia (on the east coast of Oz). She is an accomplished Miniature Artisan who enjoys designing, constructing and decorating miniature rooms to showcase her miniature creations. Her ability to create tiny, believable worlds of her own invention in 1:12 scale and smaller is remarkable and they are always of the highest quality and stand up to the closest scrutiny.
Adelaide is currently focussing on creating ladies clothing and accessories, micro miniature room scenes in 1:144 scale that fit into a 1:12 scale miniature room setting and paper printie accessories for desk scenes. The computer is integral to creating her miniatures.
Ladies clothing items are presented in and on boxes that are custom designed on the computer in all shapes and sizes. Pictured below are two examples that are workshops Adelaide has delivered and are now available as kits. The Ladies Dressing Gown in a gift box with a Nanna Rug is a fabric dressing gown with satin edged lapel and cuff neatly folded and glued into a gift box that is just 2½”L x ¼”D x 1”W (no sewing required). The Glory Box is of cardboard construction and features external relief panels with images of beautiful ladies from the 19th century. External measurements are 1½”H x 1½”D x 2¾”W and it is packed with items a lady is keeping for the big day like folded sheet sets with lace trimmings, a rolled duvet cover and what looks like the edges of some frilly night-ees plus a photo album.
Micro Miniature Room Scenes are either set into a 1:12 scale picture frame or a piece of furniture that can be installed into a 1:12 room scene — “room in room’’ concept. Adelaide has developed 12volt and LED light systems so the contents of the scene is viewed in the best light !
Paper printies complete a miniature scene and Adelaide has ideas for many lifetimes. Her latest paper printie accessory is for a desk scene and is called the Briefcase File Organiser. Folder files fan out so papers can be filed in month order, January to December. The exterior cover is a faux leather look paper and there are various themed paper printie sets available to fill it like Wedding, Christmas, School Days, Sewing, Miniatures, Artist at Work and the Costume Designer.
