Wendy Smale, Wendy’s Miniatures – heirloom quality silk pillows/cushions & natural history in miniature.
The cushions (pillows in the US!) are handcrafted from pure silk, sewn rather than glued, and many feature my truly floppy tassels. They are “squishy” rather than overstuffed, and do not need to be glued into place to look realistic. I have classic, contemporary, fun and theme designs in 1:12 scale, and am always being inspired by new fabric or embellishments. Actually, I have hundreds of fabrics that I haven’t even got around to sewing yet!
I use genuine tiny crystals, minerals, fossils and shells and mount them as individual display specimens suitable for 1:12 settings. I also fill Bespaq cabinets and display furniture with collections of natural history specimens, many of them with readable, accurate labels. I have a new line of crystals that I light from underneath with 12V L.E.D.s compatible with dolls house systems – they really are unusual and each one is unique.
I’m English but live in America and I ship my work worldwide. I have been making miniatures since about 2000 and still have a whole long list of ideas waiting for me to get to them. I tend to try out my new products on eBay first, then add them to my web site if I get a good response. I usually sell in person at one show a year (the Greater Cleveland Show currently) and sometimes other artisans represent me at the Chicago and Philadelphia shows.
